Adam Leaming is one of three 2026 distinguished alumni to be honored Thursday, March 26 at Northern Oklahoma College.

Leaming is the Ponca City Public Schools superintendent.

He is a lifelong educator and public servant whose career reflects the life-changing power of access, opportunity, and belief in students.

A graduate of Northern Oklahoma College, Leaming was the first in his family to earn a college degree—an achievement that transformed the trajectory of his life. He credits NOC with not only opening academic doors, but also teaching him how to navigate higher education and believe he belonged there.

During his time at NOC, Leaming found guidance, support, and relationships that helped shape his path forward. Those early lessons—asking questions, seeking mentorship, and taking ownership of one’s future—became foundational principles in both his academic and professional life.

Leaming currently serves as superintendent of Ponca City Public Schools, where he leads one of Oklahoma’s largest school districts. In this role, he oversees academic programs, operations, finance, human resources, and student services while working to expand opportunities for thousands of students and families.

Known for steady leadership and a collaborative spirit, Leaming remains committed to the belief that education should be life changing for every student.

Rick Scott and Wilma Harman will also be inducted on March 26.

The Class of 1976 will also be recognized.  The Alumni Legacy Scholarship will also be presented.

The banquet will be held at the Renfro Center at 6 p.m.

The award recognizes the achievements of former students whose personal lives, professional achievements and community service exemplify the objectives of the college.
