Suspect Arrested in Suspicious Death Investigation

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a suspicious death and arson incident that occurred Friday, September 15 in the Northern McCord area.

Around 8:50 am the OCSO received a call, reporting a deceased adult male inside a house under unusual circumstances. Preliminary evidence suggests that arson had been used to cover the crime scene.

In response, the State Fire Investigators were on-site examining the extent of the arson and OSBI investigators provided assistance along with the Ponca City Police Dept. and the Medical Examiner in conducting a thorough investigation.

A suspect identified as Michael Ray Porter has been arrested in connection to this incident. He currently faces charges of first-degree arson, assault on an officer, and prisoner placing bodily fluid on an employee. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
