Osage County jail changes inmate mail process, adds digital messaging

OSAGE COUNTY, Okla. –The Osage County Sheriff’s Office will begin using a new inmate mail and messaging system on July 15, 2026, changing how family and friends send correspondence to inmates at the Osage County Jail. Officials said the changes are intended to improve security by reducing the introduction of contraband while providing a faster digital communication option.

Family members and friends are encouraged to use NCIC’s secure inmate messaging system to send instant text messages, photos and document images electronically.

According to the sheriff’s office, text messages cost 25 cents each, while picture or document messages cost 35 cents each, with no limit on the number of messages or photos that may be sent.

Beginning July 15, all non-legal and non-medical inmate mail must be sent to an NCIC processing center in Longview, Texas.

The mail will be scanned, delivered electronically to inmates and then destroyed. Original letters and photos will not be returned to the sender.

Mail Requirements:
Include the inmate’s name, and your return address
Maximum of 5 pages per mailing
Pages may only contain writing on the front side
Only one (1) photo may be included with each mailing
Legal and medical mail must continue to be mailed directly to the Osage County Jail
Books, magazines, newspapers, and bulk mail should continue to follow existing Osage County Jail mail policies
