On June 18th, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers with the Ponca City Police Department contacted an individual who was improperly walking in the roadway near Riggs Drive and Gary Avenue.
During the investigation, officers discovered approximately 28.6 grams of methamphetamine in two separate bags, along with drug paraphernalia and $225 in suspected drug proceeds in the suspect’s possession. The suspect, 29-year-old Sage Duncan Sawyer, was arrested at the scene.
Following the arrest, investigators obtained and executed a search warrant at Sawyer’s residence in the 400 block of West Emporia Avenue. During the search of Sawyer’s residence, officers located an additional 4.085 ounces of methamphetamine, working digital scales, numerous unused plastic baggies associated with narcotics distribution, 1.15 ounces of marijuana, and an additional $80 in suspected drug proceeds.
As a result of the evidence recovered at the location of the initial contact and evidence recovered during the search warrant, Sawyer was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Improperly Walking in the Roadway, Possession of Drug Proceeds, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (Second or Subsequent Offense). He was transported to the Kay County Detention Center.
