POLICE OFFICER HOSPITALIZED, 1 EJECTED AFTER CRASH AT SAPULPA INTERSECTION

News 6 - June 7, 2023 10:35 am

Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash involving a Sapulpa Police cruiser on Wednesday morning.

The crash, which involved 2 cars and a police vehicle, happened at the intersection of Highway 66 and West 81st Street South.

Authorities say the crash happened while an officer was going through an intersection while traveling southbound in the outside lane. A truck, which was headed northbound, entered a turn lane to go west and hit the oncoming officer, sending their patrol car into a minivan. Police say the officer was injured and taken to a hospital to be treated.

Officers say the driver of the truck was not wearing a seatbelt and they believe he may have been ejected from the vehicle. Nobody in the van was injured.

Highway 66 has been closed to westbound drivers at West 81st Street.
