The TBI had issued warnings about 28-year-old Morley since his escape on Sunday, Oct. 25. The TBI placed him on the state’s Most Wanted list and said he should be considered dangerous.

Morley escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex, where he was serving a life sentence, in Tiptonville, Tennessee.

Morley was serving a life sentence for killing co-worker Cody Birchfield in 2022. Birchfield’s body was found in a box under Morley’s home after he had been missing for a few weeks. The two lived in Carter County, in eastern Tennessee.

Morley was also convicted of aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, evading arrest and vandalism.

Before his capture, Morley reportedly also traveled through Illinois.
