OKMULGEE, Okla. –The Muscogee Nation announced the launch of its own Medicare Advantage plan on Oct. 15. The new plan, called Native Advantage, is open to tribal and non-tribal residents.
Tribal leaders said the plan provides Medicare-eligible individuals with additional options for coverage. That includes an expanded network of hospitals and specialists, as well as expanded dental and transportation coverage.
According to leaders, Native Advantage is available to all Medicare-eligible individuals living in eleven Oklahoma counties, including Hughes, McIntosh, Mayes, Muskogee, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Rogers, Seminole, Tulsa and Wagoner. Individuals do not need to be tribal citizens.
The plan bundles Medicare Part A and Part B coverage into one plan and can add benefits not always covered, including prescription drug costs, preventive care and wellness benefits.
Leaders said Native Advantage was developed through years of planning and designed to meet the needs of citizens and local communities.
“The Muscogee Nation is committed to creating opportunities that improve the lives of our people while honoring the values, traditions and sovereignty that define us,” said Shawn Terry, Secretary of Health for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. “We created Native Advantage as a natural extension of that commitment, because Oklahomans deserve a Medicare experience designed with their needs in mind—not one where they must navigate gaps in support on their own.”
