OHP reports Kansas resident deceased in fatal collision on I-35 in Kay County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has reported that a fatality collision occurred at 12:32 p.m. Monday afternoon on Interstate 35 northbound near mile marker 225.5 in Kay County.

The vehicle was driven by Steven Slough, 76, of Topeka, Kansas. He was reported deceased. A passenger was reported injured.

According to the Highway Patrol’s report, Slough’s vehicle departed the roadway left, entered the center median, and struck the cable barrier. The vehicle then struck the culvert, went airborne, and began to roll. The vehicle then struck the cable barrier again and came to rest on its top. The reason for departing the roadway is still under investigation. The report notes that seatbelts were in use by all occupants.

The accident was investigated by Trooper A Beck #700 of Troop K.
