UPDATE: Taylor Farms recalls iceberg lettuce amidst cyclosporiasis outbreak

Taylor Farms de Mexico, a distributor of lettuce, salad mixes, vegetable trays and similar products, has pulled their iceberg lettuce from stores after being linked to the current cyclosporiasis outbreak.

In a statement published by the company Friday, they have voluntarily removed all iceberg lettuce sourced from Central Mexico from the U.S. market. Taylor Farms has farms in Guanajuato, Mexico. The company is based out of California.

Per Taylor Farms, “the shredded iceberg product was distributed June 29th thru July 16th in AL, AR, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, and WI.”

The company advises that any consumers who purchased recalled iceberg lettuce should discard it immediately. Full refunds are available at location of purchase, per the release.

Previously, a link had been made between Taco Bell lettuce and the cyclosporiasis outbreak. In a statement by Taco Bell released Friday, they announced they removed the lettuce, distributed by Taylor Farms, from their restaurants.

Taylor Farms said in a second statement that no Taylor Farms branded salads or kits are associated with the outbreak and that no Taylor Farms branded salad kits contain iceberg lettuce.

The company released a list of specific products being recalled through the FDA. The majority of affected products are distributed for food service, but Walmart’s in-house brand Marketside is also featured.

Taylor Farms also distributes product to Walmart, Whole Foods, Sprouts and Target. These companies have not issued statements on the recall.
