The Ponca City Development Authority (PCDA) has announced a partnership with the Kaw Nation and its tribally owned specialty construction company, Skyland 3D, to construct their first 3D printed home in the state of Oklahoma, right here in Ponca City. The PCDA Board of Trustees formally approved the purchase of a lot at 1013 N. 7th Street at its special board meeting on Monday, April 20, 2026, paving the way for this historic construction project to begin.
Housing has emerged as one of the most pressing challenges facing Ponca City. A comprehensive housing study revealed that only 121 homes were built in Ponca City over the entire past decade which is a stark indicator of the gap between supply and demand that has constrained the city’s growth and its ability to attract and retain a talented workforce.
In response, PCDA has worked in close partnership with the City of Ponca City to aggressively address that shortage through the Housing Incentive Program (HIP 2.0). In 2024, PCDA committed $1,000,000 in incentives over three years. These funds are directed to housing developers willing to build new or rehabilitate existing homes in Ponca City. With over $470,000 already awarded and additional projects in the pipeline, PCDA is on track to meet its goal of distributing the full $1 million by the end of 2027.
“Housing is absolutely essential to Ponca City’s growth,” said Lori Henderson, Executive Director of PCDA. “Our collaboration with the City’s HIP program will provide the necessary push for developers to consider Ponca City a viable location for their projects. These incentives help reduce the risk of building in a smaller, more rural area. The results are already speaking for themselves.”
While the Skyland 3D project at 1013 N. 7th Street does not fall within the parameters of the HIP 2.0 program, PCDA views its investment in this lot as a strategic and forward thinking complement to that work. One that introduces transformative building technology to the local market and demonstrates Ponca City’s commitment to being a place where innovation takes root.
Skyland 3D is a tribally owned construction company launched by Kaw Nation Industries, the federally chartered economic development corporation of the Kaw Nation, a federally recognized Native American tribe. Headquartered just north of Hubbard Road, Skyland 3D is already embedded in the community it aims to serve.
The company specializes in 3D concrete printing (3DCP), which is an advanced, additive construction method that builds sustainable structures layer by layer using a computer guided robotic printing system and a specially formulated concrete mix. This technology enables faster, more precise construction with significantly reduced material waste compared to traditional building methods.
The advantages of 3D concrete printing go well beyond speed. Structures produced through this method can be engineered to be exceptionally durable. Capable of withstanding tornado force winds, resistant to fire, and better suited to flood conditions than traditionally built homes. They can also offer significant long term energy savings, with projections suggesting energy costs may be reduced by nearly 50 percent.
Skyland 3D works in close collaboration with licensed architects, structural engineers, and specialty trade partners to deliver turnkey projects from concept through completion. The company’s services include project planning and feasibility assessment, full architectural design coordination, on-site 3D concrete printing operations, and workforce training with skills in one of construction’s most rapidly advancing fields.
For PCDA, partnering with Skyland 3D and the Kaw Nation is about much more than a single home. It is an affirmation that Ponca City is a place where forward-thinking enterprises can find a home and a community willing to invest in their success.
“We are so excited to partner with the Kaw Nation on this project,” said Henderson. “We admire all the ways the Kaw Nation continues to bring innovation and economic vitality to our region. We look forward to watching this first home take shape.”
The upcoming home at 1013 N. 7th Street will serve as a real world demonstration of what is possible when community investment and advanced technology come together. PCDA and Skyland 3D look forward to sharing more details about the construction timeline, design, and public engagement opportunities as the project moves forward.
