by Representative Ken Luttrell
We’re heading into the final stretch of session at the Capitol.
At this point in the process, our work is focused heavily on the House floor as we hear Senate bills that have made it through committees and are now ready for consideration by the full House. Last week marked another important deadline on April 23, when all Senate bills had to pass out of House oversight committees to remain eligible.
From here, we’re working toward the final deadline on May 7, which is the last day for Senate bills to be heard on the House floor. This is where long days become the norm and the focus shifts to finishing strong and making sure the work we’ve done throughout session comes together.
Even in the middle of session, it’s always a highlight to welcome people from back home to the Capitol.
I had the chance to visit with students from Ponca City High School, including the High Steppers, who came to learn more about how laws are made and to see their Capitol up close. Visits like this are a great reminder of who we’re working for and why this process matters. Thank you to the students and educators who made the trip.
I also attended the CareerTech Partners in Progress Awards, which recognize the businesses and industry leaders who invest their time and resources into Oklahoma’s technology centers. These partnerships are a key part of preparing students for the workforce and keeping our state competitive.
For more than two decades, CareerTech has worked hand in hand with business and industry to build programs that reflect real-world needs. This event highlights the strength of those relationships and the impact they have on students across Oklahoma. I appreciate the partners who continue to step up and support the next generation of our workforce.
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to serve and represent our district. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office at [email protected] or call (405) 557-7355. I’m here to help.
Rep. Ken Luttrell serves District 37 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. His district includes parts of Kay and Osage County.
