OKLAHOMA CITY –

OU Health is encouraging Oklahomans to prioritize early detection by hosting Lung Cancer Screening Days at the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center.

The events are designed to help individuals determine their eligibility for lung cancer screening and, if qualified, receive a low-dose CT scan. The low-dose CT scan is a quick, noninvasive imaging test that can detect lung cancer at earlier, more treatable stages.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, and early detection through annual screening can significantly improve survival rates.

Screenings are recommended for adults ages 50 to 80 who currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years and have a significant smoking history.

In addition to screening services, the event will provide information about tobacco cessation resources and support for those looking to quit smoking.

The event is Saturday, February 21 with appointments available between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to schedule in advance, though walk-ins may be accepted based on availability.
