Dungeon Crawler Carl is a popular science fiction and dark comedy book series written by Matt Dinniman. The series follows Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they fight to survive after aliens invade and force Earth’s survivors to participate in a deadly intergalactic game show.
Heisserer has been appointed as the co-showrunner of the series alongside Chris Yost, who is best known for his work on the MCU’s Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarök and Disney’s The Mandalorian.
Heisserer is most well known for his screenwriting work on 2016’s Arrival directed by Denis Villeneuve and Netflix’s Birdbox.
He also served as the showrunner for Netflix’s Shadow and Bone TV series, which was based on The Grisha trilogy and the Six of Crows duology written by Leigh Bardugo.
Heisserer was born in Norman on Dec. 29, 1969 and stated in his author bio that he grew up in the area due to his father’s job teaching ancient history at Oklahoma University.
