Winter Storm Hits Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – A winter storm that’s brought freezing rain and ice to the Oklahoma is blamed for two fatal traffic accidents and thousands of power outages across the state.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Saturday that roads were slick and hazardous from central Oklahoma to the north and west and roads elsewhere are slick in spots – particularly on bridges and overpasses.

The OHP says a 16-year-old boy died early Saturday after his car crashed and overturned on U.S. 64 near Tulsa and Oklahoma City police say a woman was killed Friday night in a collision on a slick roadway.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric reported more than 14,000 power outages statewide while Public Service Company of Oklahoma reported nearly 5,800 outages.
