Attached is best guidance for home sheltering.
Below is a list of current confirmed Public Shelters in and around Kay County.
-Kaw City:
• Kaw Nation- 746 Grandview Drive. Between Museum and Title 6 building. Always open until at capacity.
-Newkirk: Triggered at Tornado Watch. Open to public with Tornado Warning.
• Newkirk Library 116 N Maple.
• Newkirk High School Gymnasium 625 W. South
• Kaw Nation- 3151 E. River Road. East side of Health Clinic. Always open until at capacity.
-Tonkawa: Triggered at Tornado Watch.
• Tonkawa Elementary School- 501 N. Public.
• Tonkawa High School overflow from Elementary. 500 E. North Ave.
