Pioneer Women Host First Class After Re-open

Ponca City Now - October 30, 2013 9:01 am

Graveyards can be spooky, especially at this time of year.

But the Pioneer Woman is providing true meaning to gravestones.

Museum director, Robbin Davis said you can get to know the deceased by looking at and understanding their headstones.

The Pioneer Woman Museum will be hosting a workshop to teach you how to read markings on gravestones.

“A lot of us are really interested into our heritage and the heritage of other people, and sometimes life goes so fast we kind of forget about the little things," Davis said. "Especially when our ancestors have past on and they had a specific interest in life, or something like that. Once they are gone we tend to forget that or it doesn’t become important to other people.”

Davis said some of the markings can be seen around the world.

The class is Saturday and there are only 12 spots left.

The only charge for the class is $4 admission to the museum.

This is the first class since the reopen and the Pioneer Women is looking for future class ideas.

They want to have two classes a month.
