NOC names players of the week

Mavericks Head Women’s Basketball Coach Greg Krause announces the Northern Oklahoma College women’s basketball player of the week and Men’s Head Coach Donnie Jackson announces the men’s player of the week.

The women’s player of the week is Raetchel Gray. Gray is a sophomore from Allen and attended Byng High School. The men’s player of the week is Jarrid Rhodes a freshman from Palmetto, Fla.

“ Raetchel continues to be a consistent scorer and team leader. She also filled in at point guard last week to cover for an injury to Paj Jackson. She averaged 15.3 points per game in the last three games, and scored 22 points in Saturday’s win over Allen, shooting 6-6 from the free throw line and 4-8 from the three point line,” Krause said.

In last week’s contests, the Lady Mavs lost to Cowley County 95-50 and NEO 69-47 and defeated Allen 89-74 at home Saturday. Their record stands at 7-3 for the season and 0-1 in conference play as of Nov. 23.

“In the last two games, Nov. 20 and 24, Jarrid averaged 13.5 points-per-game in helping the Mavs go 1-1. He is an excellent student and has been excelling on and off the court,” said Jackson.

The Mavs lost two and won one game from Nov. 18 – 24. They lost to Cowley County 82-69 and NEO 84-63 and defeated Seminole State 64-58. They are now 7-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play as of Nov. 25.

The women travel to Concordia, Kan., to play Cloud Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. The men and women travel to Enid Dec. 2 for the bedlam contest against NOC Enid, women at 6 p.m. and men 8 p.m. and then to Tishomingo to play Murray State Dec. 4 at 6 and 8 p.m. The men and women are at home Dec. 6 when the women play Pratt at 2 p.m. and the men take on Oklahoma Wesleyan at 4 p.m. Seminole, NOC Enid and Murray are all conference games.
