The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week for the 2023-2024 school year was presented to Abby Chamberlin, a junior at Ponca City High School.
Abby strives to do her best in everything she does. She is president of the Po-Hi FCCLA, part of the Po-Hi Mock Trial Team and Philharmonic Orchestra.
PCPS Superintendent Adam Leaming said, “As a superintendent, I am immensely proud to witness the extraordinary dedication and multifaceted talents of our students. One shining example is Abby Chamberlin who not only excels in the classroom but also contributes significantly to our school community. Through their active involvement in FCCLA, Mock Trial Team, and the Philharmonic Orchestra, Abby not only showcases exceptional effort and proficiency on the violin but also embodies the highest standards of character. Their commitment to excellence is a testament to the rich tapestry of achievements that define our school, inspiring us all to reach new heights. Thank you Abby for helping set the Wildcat Standard for myself and others in our community to follow.”
Thomas Murray, Mock Trial coach, said, “Abby has been a member of the Mock Trial Team since her freshman year. Since then she has gone on to become an outstanding member of the team, putting in time and work to write questions for her attorney roles. She asks questions while working on her parts to improve her performance for competition.”
Paula Macpherson-Cochran, Director of Instrumental Music for PCPS, said, “Abby is such a joy to have in class. She is the perfect example of what it means to be a Wildcat. She gives her BEST effort every time. She strives to play her violin better every single day and sets a good example as a section leader. She is very disciplined and also reminds others what the expectations are in a positive way. She is very competitive and pushes herself. Abby has an incredible attitude and a very valuable member of our team. I am thrilled to see Abby win such a well-deserved award!”
