Wewoka community on edge: Unexpected surge in gang-related violence disrupts local life

For weeks, Wewoka residents say they’ve been living in fear.

Businesses are closing early, and events have been canceled.

We tried reaching out to Wewoka police, but their phone number goes straight to county dispatch.

You’re asked to leave your name and number, and maybe you’ll get a callback.

Investigators say they’ve responded to several shootings and house fires.

They believe it’s likely a retaliation to a murder at a gas station in September.

Johnson says he’s called the FBI and ATF for help.

Agents say they arrested two people on gun charges Wednesday.

Three other people were arrested on Thursday.

Johnson says more people are expected to be jailed soon.

Seminole Nation police are also investigating.
