West Virginia women hold off No. 20 Oklahoma 63-55

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – Arielle Roberson had nine points, 14 rebounds, five steals and three blocks and made some key free throws down the stretch to help West Virginia beat No. 20 Oklahoma 63-55 Wednesday night.

Roberson hit the first of two free throws with 53.6 seconds left to extend West Virginia’s lead to 58-53 and then she grabbed the long offensive rebound. After being fouled again, she made two free throws with 52.5 left for a three possession game.

Gioya Carter missed a free throw on a 3-point play opportunity with 39.9 seconds left but Oklahoma grabbed the offensive rebound. The Sooners had three chances in the lane but could not score.

West Virginia made 3 of 4 at the stripe to close it out.

Bria Holmes had 14 points for West Virginia (20-7, 9-5 Big 12).

Peyton Little led Oklahoma (17-8, 8-6) with 14 points.

Oklahoma was within 28-23 with 7:26 left in the third quarter but the Sooners did not hit their next field goal until the 51-second mark and trailed 40-27.
