Weather warning issued

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) – The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for southwestern Oklahoma and parts of northwestern Texas.

The warning is in effect Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday for Washita, Caddo, Grady, Harmon, Greer, Kiowa, Jackson, Tillman, Comanche, Stephens, Cotton and Jefferson counties in Oklahoma. Counties in Texas include Hardeman, Foard, Wilbarger, Wichita, Knox, Baylor, Archer and Clay.

The weather service says freezing rain could result in up to one-half inch of on bridges, trees, power lines and elevated surfaces.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has crews deployed statewide to treat roadways with salt and sand.
