WATER METER UPGRADES BEGIN JANUARY 8

Ponca City Now - January 5, 2024 6:36 am

UTS (Utility Technology Services) and PMI (Professional Meters Inc.)will begin to upgrade water meters on Jan. 8, 2024 in Ponca City.

The City of Ponca City has contracted with UTS (Utility Technology Services) and PMI (Professional Meters Inc.) to upgrade automated water meters throughout the area. The new meters will allow the City of Ponca City’s automated meter reading process to provide better customer service, greater data accuracy and reduced operational expenses.
Working Times-
• This project is scheduled to begin January 8, 2024 and be completed by September 29, 2024.
• PMI will upgrade meters between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Impacts to Customers
• Most water meters in Ponca City are located in covered boxes in the front yard near the curb. PMI should not need access into homes.
• When PMI arrives on site to change a meter, the water will be off for approximately 20 minutes. The installer will knock on a resident/business door before shutting the water off. A post-installation door hanger will be placed on the door after completion.
• Changes in water pressure during the installation process can result in discolored water, air in the water line and/or small particles of sediment. Prior to using your water, it is recommended that you flush your lines by turning on your bath tub’s cold water faucet or using an outside faucet. Avoid flushing from faucets that have aerator attachments or hot water faucets that may draw sediment into your hot water tank.
Inaccessible Meters-
• Customers may be required to make an appointment to change a meter that is inaccessible.
• A meter could be inaccessible, if the meter is located in a basement, behind a locked gate, or obstructed by something such as a car or trailer parked over the meter pit.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
