Tractor driver dies in El Reno accident

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the driver of a 2007 Volvo tractor died in an accident about 9:11 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 40, just east of U.S. Highway 81 in El Reno.

The tractor was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 when it departed the roadway to t he left, striking the cable barrier. The Highway Patrol said extreme winds caused the accident which caused  the tractor to roll a quarter turn, coming to rest on the driver’s side.

The driver was partially ejected through the driver side window and was pinned for about an hour before being freed by the El Reno Fire Department, the Patrol reported.

The Highway Patrol’s investigation of the accident is continuing.
