Officers with the Ponca City Police Department and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics Methamphetamine Task Force conducted a search warrant in Ponca City on Tuesday morning. As a result of that search warrant, investigators located 2.1 grams of cocaine, 5.8 grams of methamphetamine, 151 Fentanyl pills and multiple variations of prescription medications intended for distribution in Ponca City. Three individuals were taken into custody at the scene and are facing multiple charges in Kay County District Court.
Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is many times stronger than both heroin and morphine, remains a rapidly evolving threat to the health and safety of our citizens. Nationwide, overdose deaths continue to rise as a result of the synthetic opioid crisis that continues to plague American communities. Illicitly manufactured Fentanyl is commonly found pressed in pill shaped tablets that mimic other legally regulated medications. We strongly encourage parents to talk with their children about the dangers of taking any form of medication that is not prescribed by their doctor and administered by a parent or trusted guardian.
