The End of Netflix Password Sharing is Coming Soon

The era of Netflix password sharing is about to fade to black, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The streaming service will reportedly put an end to password borrowing in early 2023, asking people who share accounts to start paying up.

After getting sidelined in the pandemic, the company’s efforts to crackdown on password sharing ramped up this year.

The Wall Street Journal reports more than 100 million Netflix viewers watch the service using passwords they borrow.

Earlier this month, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandon told investors, “Make no mistake, I don’t think consumers are going to love it right out of the gate,” adding it was up to the company to make sure users see value in paying for the service.
