Texas man dies when boat overturns

A fatal boating incident occurred about 4:25 p.m. Monday on Waurika Lake, about 1/2 mile southeast of the Wichita Ridge boat ramp, approximately 3 miles north of Hastings, OK, in Jefferson County.
Darwin Wayne Smith, 73, of Arlington, Texas, was driving an aluminum flat-bottomed boat which overturned, throwing Smith overboard. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Medical Examiner Ron Jenkins. The exact cause of death is pending the medical examiner’s report.
