OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A term-limited state senator from Tulsa who also worked as Gov. Kevin Stitt’s top budget advisor has announced that he’ll run for state treasurer next year. Former Republican state Sen. Mike Mazzei announced his candidacy on Tuesday.

Mazzei joins another term-limited state lawmaker, Republican Todd Russ of Cordell, and Oklahoma County Clerk David Hooten as candidates for the post.

Current State Treasurer Randy McDaniel of Oklahoma City announced in June that he wouldn’t seek a second term.

Mazzei is a certified financial planner who served 12 years in the Senate, most as Senate Finance Committee chairman overseeing tax policy.
