Students qualify for annual Red Carpet Honor Bands

Ponca City West and East Middle School announce that several student musicians have qualified to represent Ponca City in the 25 th Annual Red Carpet Honor Bands on Saturday, Jan. 16 at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.

By competing against students from all of Northwest Oklahoma, students were selected in a “blind” audition by area band directors for a coveted position in one of three honor bands.

The audition included five major scales, the chromatic scale, a prepared piece and an excerpt performed at sight. The band members who qualified include:

West Middle School – 7 th Grade students

Koby Wilson, 1st Alternate Alto Saxophone, B Band

East Middle School

The students have been prepared by Ponca City Middle School Band Directors, Andrew Orr and Keith Crocker and Ponca City High School Band Director, David Christy.
