TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) – Gov. Kevin Stitt is announcing his pick for the next attorney general Friday morning in Tulsa.

Stitt’s appointment will formally be sworn in later in the day at the Capitol.

Mike Hunter recently resigned as Oklahoma’s attorney general, citing “certain personal matters” becoming “a distraction for this office.”

The Oklahoman newspaper reported Hunter was involved in an extramarital affair with a state employee.

The Oklahoman also reports Stitt’s appointment will serve until voters have their say in November 2022.

The Oklahoman reports Stitt plans to name Tulsa attorney John M. O’Connor as attorney general.
