Sperry man held in shooting death

SPERRY, Okla. (AP) – Tulsa County deputies have arrested a 78-year-old man in the shooting death of a 42-year-old man in Sperry.

Deputies responding to reports of shots fired shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday found William Kelley with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Kelley later died of his wounds.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.

Deputies say a family member of Kelley’s said the two had gone to a shop to get tools to free a stuck all-terrain vehicle when they encountered the man – who the family member said Kelley had allowed to stay on the property.

The family member said the suspect didn’t recognize Kelley and shot him.
