Section of Grand Avenue Closing With Activities Friday

City of Ponca city - June 2, 2023 10:18 am

Grand Avenue will be closed this Friday, June 2, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., from 6th Street to the east side of Pine Street with a number of activities. Northbound and southbound traffic will have to go east to 7th Street or west to Pine Street to cross Grand Avenue.
With all the activities going on, please be vigilant when driving in the area, especially when it comes to pedestrians, and please be patient with others. If you are planning to attend any of the festivities, be aware that Grand Avenue parking will not be available. Downtown visitors may have to park a little further away than normal and the City asks that they be respectful of private property in the area. If anyone needs assistance, don’t be afraid to ask one of the many uniformed officers or volunteers for help.
Beginning at 5:00 p.m. Grand Avenue will be full of classic cars, motorcycles, and spectators for the Annual Schooners Car Club “Cruzin’ Grand.” Starting at 6:30p.m., there will a “Down By Downtown” concert at Veterans Plaza featuring local musician, Larry Newsom. In conjunction with this, there will a chalk trailer in front of The Doodle Academy, for pedestrians to do sidewalk chalk art. And then, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A.I.M. Dance Studio will have their Annual Spring recital at the Poncan Theatre.
These are great events for our community and showcase some of the best things about Ponca City. This is also a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy our community with your friends, families and neighbors and we want the public to enjoy them safely.
