QB Mayfield leads 7 Sooners as AP All-Big 12 first-teamers

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield is the unanimous pick as the Big 12 offensive player of the year and one of seven Sooners on The Associated Press All-Big 12 first team.

The playoff-bound Sooners won their ninth Big 12 title under Bob Stoops, who on Wednesday became the first four-time winner of the AP Big 12 coach of the year award.

Oklahoma had four first-team selections on offense, including sophomore running back Samaje Perine a year after he was the league’s top offensive newcomer.

Oklahoma State junior defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah, with 13 sacks, is the Big 12 defensive player of the year.

Iowa State freshman running back Mike Warren is newcomer of the year after running for 1,339 yards.
