Ponca City showcases itself at the state capital

Ponca City Now - March 7, 2014 11:52 am

Today is Ponca City day at the Oklahoma State Capital.

Rich Cantillion, Chamber of Commerce president said multiple Ponca City tourist spots will have booths at the capital.

Legislators and lobbyists will visit the booths.

“Our main objective is to remind the legislature how important the tourism industry is in Oklahoma and to showcase what Ponca City has in the way of tourism," Cantillion said. "There is probably not another community in the state of Oklahoma, outside Oklahoma City and Tulsa, that has more to offer in the way of tourism attractions.”

Some of the places represented today are The Pioneer Women, Marland Mansion, the Conoco Museum, Poncan Theater and Kaw Lake.

Cantillion says this is a great way to show off what Ponca City has to offer.

“We have museums, we have outdoor recreation, we have everything, events, great shopping," Cantillion said. " We have everything that you want in the way tourism, so it’s a great way for us to showcase that tourism is economic development, it does create wealth and jobs.”

On top of all the represented Ponca City attractions, Chamber members will be visiting all the offices in the capital.

Cantillion said Lydie and E.W. Marland actors may visit offices, as well.
