Ponca City residents injured in vehicle collision near Marland

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a personal injury collision occurred at about 3:10 a.m. on Saturday on US 177 just north of Yearling Road, about 4.5 miles east of Marland, OK in Noble County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2003 Acura driven by Murray King, 21, of Ponca City, OK. King was transported by Air Evac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk external injuries.

A passenger in King’s vehicle, Taylor Blueback (SIC), 26, of Ponca City, OK was transported by Ponca City EMS to Alliance Health in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where she was treated and released.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated that King’s vehicle was northbound on US-177, crossed the center line and over-corrected back to the right. The vehicle departed the roadway to the right, struck a fence, went airborne, and rolled end over end, coming to rest on the driver side. King was pinned for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, and extricated by the Ponca City Fire Department. Seat belts were equipped and in use by all parties. Airbags were equipped and deployed. The condition of the driver prior to the collision, and the cause of the collision, are still under investigation.
