Ponca City resident injured in personal injury collision east of town

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a personal injury collision occurred at about 12:29 p.m. on Sunday just east of South Avenue, about 1 mile east of Ponca City in Kay County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2014 Audi Q5 driven by Marcos Amador [sic], 36, of Ponca City, OK. Amador was transported by Survival Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he was admitted in poor condition due to head, arm, and leg injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated that Amador’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on Kelley Avenue. The vehicle departed the roadway to the right, drove down a small dirt road, and struck a tree. The report indicates that seatbelts were equipped, but not in use; airbags were equipped, but did not deploy. The report indicates that the driver was drinking and his ability was impaired. The cause of the collision is listed as being under investigation at this time.
