ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. A Ponca City man was arrested Saturday by the Arkansas City Police Department in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Oklahoma.

Shawn Ashton Mantz, 32, was arrested on a Kay County District Court warrant for aggravated robbery. He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $200,000 bond through Kay County. Mantz remained in custody as of Monday afternoon.

Officers responded Saturday to a report of an unknown male leaving behind property and traveling to a nearby residence. He was reported armed and his description matched a wanted robbery suspect.

Police went to the residence, contacted the occupant and eventually were able to speak with Mantz.

After a brief dialogue, he was taken into custody without incident.

Once police verified the warrant for Mantz’s arrest was valid, he was taken to the county jail, where he will remain until arrangements can be made to transfer him back to Oklahoma.
