Ponca City High School Homecoming Court, Queen candidates named

The Ponca City High School has named the 2019 Homecoming Court, which consists of a freshman, sophomore, and junior class attendant and four senior class queen candidates.

The senior class has chosen the queen from among the senior queen candidates, and the winner will be announced at the game Friday night.

Megan Malloy has been elected as the Freshman Attendant. She is the daughter of Brandon and Jennifer Malloy. Megan is a member of the Po-Hi Steppers, a member of the Po-Hi Orchestra, and is a Sergeant at Arms for Pepperettes.

Megan is escorted by Trycten Boyer, son of Justin and Jayla Boyer. Trycten is a member of the Wildcat freshman football team and baseball team and is a Student Council Freshman Representative.

Presenting flowers to Megan is Tynli Nickell. Tynli is the daughter of Tori and Keith Lamrouex. She is the Freshman Class President, a member of the Po-Hi marching band and is a Student Council Freshman Representative.

Jill Jackson is the Sophomore Attendant. Jill is the daughter of Scott and Ann Jackson. She is a Sophomore Student Council Representative, a Po-Hi Stepper and a member of the Wildcat tennis team.

Escorting Jill is Tabron Stanton, son of Sean and Brooke Stanton. Tabron is a member of the Wildcat varsity football team, a member of the Po-Hi baseball team and is a member of Faith Tabernacle Church.

Presenting flowers to Jill is Kalyn Delaney, daughter of Tasha Smith. Kalyn is the Sophomore Class President, a DECA officer and a Sophomore Student Council Representative.

Junior Attendant is Shaylee Smith, daughter of Darrin and Maggie Smith. Shaylee is the FFA Historian, a member of the Po-Hi soccer team and the Ponca City United Soccer Club, and is a Wildcat football manager.

Junior Landon Varner is Shaylee’s escort. Landon is the son of Bart and Jill Varner. He is a member of the Wildcat varsity football team, where he plays left tackle.

Presenting flowers to Shaylee is Emma Burch. Emma is the daughter of Wes and Kellie Burch. Emma is the Junior Class President, a Junior Student Council Representative and is an active member of NewPoint Church.

The 2019 Queen Candidates are Rylee Kelly, Landrie Kinkaid, Kayla Stephens, and Lanie Varner.

Rylee Kelly is the daughter of Michael and Joyce Kelly. She is the President of the Po-Hi FFA, has participated in HOBY and COLT leadership activities, and is a student athletic trainer for Po-Hi Athletics. After graduation, Rylee hopes to go to Texas Tech University to pursue a degree in Athletic Training.

Escorting Rylee is senior Cole Mason. Cole is the son of Todd and Audra Mason. He is a member of the Wildcat varsity football team, a Senior Student Council Representative and is a Po-Hi basketball manager. After graduation, Cole plans to attend college.

Presenting flowers to Rylee is Karis Branstetter, daughter of Rex and Wendy Branstetter. Karis is the Student Council Treasurer, a member of Po-Hi’s National Honor Society and a senior member of the Lady Cat Basketball team. After graduation, Karis plans to attend college and major in Industrial Engineering.

Queen Candidate Landrie Kinkaid is the daughter of Abbie and Brett Kinkaid. She is a four-year member of the Po-Hi Steppers, a committee chair for the Po-Hi DECA chapter and is a member of the First Baptist Church youth group. Landrie’s future plans include attending Oklahoma State University to study psychology.

Escorting Landrie is Senior Sheldon Tawkoyty, son of Leah White Plume. Sheldon is a member of the Po-Hi varsity football team and is a member of both the Po-Hi basketball and track teams. After graduation, Sheldon plans to major in psychology and play collegiate sports.

Presenting flowers to Landrie is Senior Claire Roche.   Claire is the daughter of James and Donna Roche. She is the Senior Class Vice President, a member of the Po-Hi varsity soccer team, and a member of Po-Hi’s National Honor Society. After graduation, Claire plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to major in Early Childhood Education.

Queen Candidate Kayla Stephens is the daughter of Kerren Stephens and Michael Gaines. Kayla is a member of the Po-Hi choir, the Po-Hi track team and works at Ponca City’s AMC theatre. Kayla’s post high school plans include attending Pioneer Technology Center and becoming a paramedic.

Escorting Kayla is senior Trevaughn Tipton, son of Renea Keener and Kerry Sanders. Trevaughn is a member of the Wildcat varsity football team, the Po-Hi track team and the Wildcat basketball team. After graduation, Trevaughn’s college plans include playing college football and majoring in Physical Therapy.

Presenting flowers to Kayla is Kabria Christian, daughter of Anthony and Tina Christian. Kabria is the Senior Class Secretary, a Senior Student Council Representative and a member of the Lady Cat basketball team. Kabria’s plans after high school include attending college to obtain a degree in Forensic Psychology.

Queen Candidate Lanie Varner is the daughter of Bart and Jill Varner. Lanie is the Po-Hi Student Council President, a member of Po-Hi’s National Honor Society and an active member of St. Luke’s youth group. After graduation, Lanie plans to major in Entrepreneurship and eventually own her own business.

Escorting Lanie is Senior Blake Seward, son of Troy and Mandy Seward. Blake is a member of the Wildcat varsity football team, the Po-Hi basketball team and the Wildcat track team. After graduation, Blake will serve his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Presenting flowers to Lanie is Senior Nicole Caughlin, daughter of Joe and Robyn Caughlin. Nicole is the Senior Class President, a Senior Student Council Representative, DECA Treasurer and an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church youth group. After graduation, Nicole plans to attend OSU and major in Psychology.

Kale Gilbert, son of Tim and Kathy Gilbert, will be crowning one of the queen candidates as the 2019 Homecoming Queen. Kale is the Po-Hi Student Council Vice President, a member of the Po-Hi golf team and a member of Po-Hi’s National Honor Society. Kale plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in Business.

“The lovely flowers that will be presented to the Homecoming Court were provided by Grand Flowers and Gifts,” Student Council Adviser and Homecoming Sponsor Betsy Easley said. “We would like to thank the Po-Hi Steppers, the Marching Wildcats, and the Po-Hi Cheerleaders for assisting with the Homecoming ceremony.”

The ceremony is under the direction of Betsy Easley and Molly Carter, Student Council Advisers.
