A 16-year-old Ponca City girl was transported by Ponca City EMS to AllianceHealth Ponca City, then taken by Air Evac to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa Tuesday morning after an accident.

The accident occurred about 7:42 a.m. at U.S. Highway 60 and Glasgow Road, about 2 miles east of Ponca City in Osage County.

The girl was driving a 2008 Hyundai and was stopped at the south stop sign at the intersection. A 2012 Buick, driven by Elaine Lee, 43, of Mount Auburn, IA, was eastbound on U.S. 60. The girl started from a stop in front of Lee’s vehicle and her vehicle was struck by Lee’s.

A 15-year-old boy was a passenger in the Hyundai. He was transported by personal vehicle to AllianceHealth Ponca City but was not admitted.

Lee refused transport on the scene. A passenger in her car, John Lee, 75, also of Mount Auburn, IA, was not injured.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol determined the cause of the collision was failure to yield at the stoop sign.

All occupants of both vehicles were using their seat belts and airbags deployed in both cars.
