Po-Hi Symphony Strings Orchestra earns top marks

The 62-member Ponca City High School Symphony Strings Orchestra, the top string orchestra at Po-Hi, traveled to Edmond Santa Fe High School to compete in the OSSAA State String Orchestra Contest. The group earned all Superior ratings from all three judges at this first contest of the year.

The Po-Hi Orchestra performed Introduction and Allegro by Baroque composer Joseph Bodin De Boismortier (arranged by Robert McCashin) and The Odyssey by Soon Hee Newbold.

This contest has been in place 15 years.

The Po-Hi Orchestra has competed in 14 of these contests and earned 13 consecutive Superior ratings.

The group is under the direction of Dan Larson, Paula Cochran, and Katie Rolf.
