The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a personal injury collision occurred about 5:38 p.m. Friday at US177 and 68th Street, approximately 4 miles south of Stillwater, OK in Payne County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2000 Freightliner Semi driven by Joel Brown, 79, of Stillwater, OK. Brown was taken by private vehicle to Stillwater Medical Center and was treated and released with head injury.

The second vehicle involved was a 2000 Buick LeSabre driven by Renee Gilstrap, 71, of Stillwater, OK. Gilstrap was transported by LifeNet to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and was admitted in critical condition with head and leg injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated Brown’s vehicle was southbound on US177 and Gilstrap’s vehicle was northbound on US177. Brown’s vehicle turned east in front of Gilstrap’s vehicle and Brown’s vehicle was struck in the front passenger side. Gilstrap was pinned for approximately 20 minutes before being freed by the Perkins Fire Department. Seatbelts were equipped and in use. A front airbag deployed in Gilstrap’s vehicle.
