PCPS Announces Wildcat of the Week

It was super exciting to present the Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week #8 for the 2020-2021 School Year!

This week’s recipient of the Wildcat of the Week Award is PO-HI Senior, Alaina Gates.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “It was such a pleasure to present this Wildcat of the Week Award to Alaina! Alaina has had many obstacles in her life, and everyone needs to know she has not only overcome these obstacles, but she has actually taken these challenges as an opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade and actually flourish!”

“Alaina is a member of The Big Blue Band and has attended many band camps and competitions to push herself to become the best band member and to develop the band as a team. Alaina strives to do her best in all she sets out to do, but just as importantly, she is very kind and will do anything to support her friends, family, classmates, and teachers.”

“There was a situation in which she felt like one of her friends was not being treated appropriately by another student. Not only did Alaina get help for her friend, but she rode the bus with her friend to provide support and to protect them from being mistreated. Now, THAT is what I call being a true friend! True friends are there for you when you need them!”

“Alaina, I am so proud of you for your kindness, compassion, and caring heart! With so much frustration, heartache, and ugliness in our world surrounding the pandemic, you are such a breath of fresh air. You are positive, kind spirited, and treat others with dignity and respect.”

“The way someone treats others says a lot about their character! Kindness is needed now more than ever, and I appreciate you modeling what kindness is all about. You told me when you graduated you wanted to work for PCPS as an assistant. When you graduate, you call me! We love having such caring people on TEAM PCPS and you will be a great asset to our team. Thank you for being such an amazing Wildcat!”

The Wildcat of the Week receives a Wildcat of the Week T-shirt, a Wildcat window sticker, and a coupon for a delicious burger basket from Ground Round. The award is sponsored by TEAM Radio, Heather Cannon Honda, Tyndall Family Dentistry, Ground Round, and Legacy Signs.

The award is open to ANY Ponca City High School student. TEAM Radio makes the final selections and coordinates with school officials for presentations. Please use the following link to nominate a high school student for Wildcat of the Week: https://www.poncacitynow.com//32875-2/
