PCPS Announces Wildcat of the Week – Morgan Mays

Mike Seals - September 22, 2020 11:04 pm

The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week for Week #1 of the 2020-2021 School Year is Po-Hi Junior, MORGAN MAYS.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “I am so excited Morgan was named the first Wildcat of the Week for the 2020-2021 School Year. She is a proud, third-year member of the Big Blue Band; she loves music and also plays in the Jazz Band. I hear from good sources Morgan has never really been a morning person, but her dedication to band has her up early and out on the marching practice field every day.”

“In addition to being a participant in band activities, she is enrolled in a rigorous academic schedule and is a member of the Mock Trial Team. In everything she does, Morgan gives her all by demonstrating a strong work-ethic. She never fails to focus on teamwork because she loves to help others succeed in order for the band to continually improve.”

“The band had to move into the gym at Po-Hi due to rain Tuesday morning, and I was so excited to share with the group that the very first Wildcat of the Week for this school year was a member of the Big Blue Band,” continued Arrott! “After the entire band went through the customary recital of the Wildcat Way prior to the announcement, no one was shocked when I announced the first WOW recipient this year was Morgan. In fact, the entire band, including directors and band members, cheered and gave words of encouragement and praise to Morgan. It is obvious Morgan has a great attitude and is well-respected by her peers and instructors.”

“Morgan, I appreciate the positive attitude you continually maintain, particularly during challenging times when it is so easy to get caught up in negativity. Thank you for representing the Ponca City Wildcats by demonstrating all the characteristics of the Wildcat Way and making the best of ANY situation! It was an honor to present this award to you in the presence of your peers, band directors, and principal.”

The Wildcat of the Week receives a Wildcat of the Week T-shirt, a Wildcat window sticker, and a coupon for a delicious burger basket from Ground Round. The award is sponsored by TEAM Radio, Heather Cannon Honda, Tyndall Family Dentistry, Ground Round, and Legacy Signs.

The award is open to ANY Ponca City High School student. TEAM Radio makes the final selections and coordinates with school officials for presentations. Please use this link to nominate a high school student for Wildcat of the Week: https://www.poncacitynow.com/32875-2/
