FROM THE OSAGE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE:

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call this morning at approximately 8:11 a.m., advising that a female was on the ground in front of the bank in Fairfax, Oklahoma, and there was a lot of blood.

While this call was being transferred to EMS, another call came in advising that an individual had possibly shot his wife and was now at Fairfax City Hall with a gun.

Officers immediately responded to this location and the suspect began firing at the officers. The officers exchanged fire, wounding the suspect.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the suspect was transported to the hospital with critical wounds.

The names of the parties involved are not being released at this time, to allow notification of family.

Officers from numerous agencies are on scene and we will update this press release as information comes in. We ask that you please be patient and allow our officers to work the scene without distraction.
