Order stops OKC school board from discussing member’s conduct

The Associated Press and The Oklahoman - June 25, 2019 3:59 pm

Board member Charles Henry.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – A member of the Oklahoma City School Board has obtained a court order preventing the board from discussing his conduct.

The Oklahoman reports that board member Charles Henry obtained a temporary restraining order against board Chairwoman Paula Lewis to prevent the board from discussing Henry’s conduct at a meeting Monday night.

The meeting agenda included a private discussion about possible discipline against Henry but cited no specific violations. Henry, who was elected in 2017, has voiced several complaints about the school district over social media. He has since deleted his Twitter account.

A judge granted the order following a hearing Monday. An attorney for Lewis, Laura Holmes, claimed Henry violated the board’s code of ethics. Henry testified an investigation launched by the board is an attempt “to publicly humiliate me.”
