One injured in county accident

NEWKIRK — A personal injury collision occurred about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Silverdale Road one mile north of Bender Road, about 4 miles north and 6 miles east of Newkirk.
Marcelino Venegas, 23, of Arkansas City, Kansas, was driving a 1990 Ford Fiesta. He was not injured.
A passenger, Chasity Dawn O’Conner, 19, of Arkansas City was transported by Newkirk EMS to AllianceHealth Ponca City Hospital, then by EagleMed to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa. She was admitted in stable condition with head injuries, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
The car was southbound on Silverdale Road when it departed the roadway to the left and struck an embankment, the patrol reported. A trooper reported the cause of the accident was driving under the influence of alcohol.
