PAWHUSKA, Okla. (AP) – An Oklahoma man who was convicted of killing his father almost 30 years ago has been charged in his girlfriend’s death.

Thomas Mongrain Eaves of Pawhuska was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Starr Pennington.

Court documents say Eaves brought Pennington, who appeared to be unconscious, to a hospital emergency room on Aug. 25, where a doctor determined she had been dead for several hours. Eaves told FBI investigators that Pennington had been drunk and unresponsive for at least six hours beforehand.

The Tulsa World reports that an autopsy determined Pennington died of blunt force trauma to her head. Pennington also had bruises and broken ribs from previous injuries.

In 1986, Eaves was convicted in the shooting death of his father. He also pleaded guilty in 2000 to tampering with a victim by intimidation.
