Oklahoma Earthbikes Fellowship receives recreational trails grant

Roy Pemberton provided this photo showing The Oklahoma Earthbike Fellowship of Ponca City in a productive work day on the Lake Ponca Trails. They just keep getting better. The work crew included Pemberton, with Aaron Reynolds, John Shears, Allen Green, Chad VanHoesen, David Swanson and Chris Southern.

The Oklahoma Earthbikes Fellowship has been awarded a grant from the Recreational Trails Grant Program.

The grant, sponsor match, and in-kind donations total roughly $271,000. OEF will be establishing trail maintenance hubs across Oklahoma at some of its larger trails to enable these trail systems to receive some much needed care and to also support the smaller trail systems that are nearby.

“We can’t do the work without our volunteers, and now is the time to get involved,” said local OEF board member Roy Pemberton of Pemberton Chevrolet.

Pemberton said the Ponca City OEF will get a good portion of the grant, approximately $30,000.

“I am so proud that Lake Ponca Trails are part of the OEF,” Pemberton said. “This will help us buy more tools of the trail building trade, and a extremely heavy duty storage container that will be located at the trail to put them in.”

Pemberton expressed his thanks to Tegan Malone for the efforts she has put into getting this grant.
