Oklahoma Attorney General seeks receiver for OETA Foundation

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter is asking to intervene in a legal dispute between the state’s public television network and its charitable fundraiser, as well as looking for a receiver to take over the funds of the fundraising foundation.
A motion filed Wednesday in Oklahoma County District Court to intervene in a lawsuit between the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority and the OETA Foundation says a receiver should take control of the foundation’s funds and assets to “ensure their appropriate and proper distribution.”
The OETA board in January voted to end its relationship with the foundation, accusing it of misspending funds donated for public television. A new nonprofit was created for fundraising.
The foundation says it has raised more than $67.5 million to benefit OETA since 1989 and that OETA refuses to be transparent on how it spends money.
