OHP Trooper from Ponca City struck in personal injury collision near Stillwater

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a personal injury collision occurred involving an OHP vehicle at about 10:13 a.m. on Friday in the area of US Highway 177 and East 56th Avenue, approximately 2 miles south of Stillwater, OK in Payne County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox driven by David Orr, 85, of Perkins, OK. Orr was transported by Lifenet to Stillwater Medical Center, where he was admitted in fair condition with arm and trunk internal injuries.

The second vehicle involved was a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe (OHP605) driven by Tropper Brian Rose, 42, of Ponca City, OK. Rose was transported by patrol vehicle to Stillwater Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated that Orr’s vehicle was traveling northbound on US-177. Rose’s vehicle was legally parked on the southbound outside shoulder with rear emergency lights activated. Orr’s vehicle went left of center and struck Rose’s vehicle head on. The report notes that seatbelts were equipped in both vehicles, though not in use at the time in Rose’s parked vehicle. Airbags were equipped and deployed in combination in both vehicles. Orr’s condition at the time is listed as under investigation and Rose’s condition is listed as apparently normal. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
