Officers to enforce no U turn ordinance downtown

Team Radio Marketing Group - July 7, 2017 11:32 am

Complaints have been received recently about motorist making U-turns on Grand Avenue, and turning across the center line to park on the opposite side of the street.

Police will have a greater presence in the downtown area to deter these driving behaviors, and to enforce the handicapped parking.

By city code, U-turns are not permitted in the downtown business district, and state law prohibits crossing the center line except to properly and safely enter into or exit from an alley, private road or driveway

Citations will be written when a vehicle is found parked in a properly marked parking space, designated for those with physical disabilities, and no placard or proper license plate is visible.  Placards need to be displayed so they are easily visible.
